Re: A shadow of what we once were

I suspect that if a new werewolf project got off the ground, we'd see a similar resurgence. Not to go off topic, but I've been wondering about that lately. A few years ago I got bored and thought about writing a story, never thought it could work, but eh, something to do. Time passed, and I haven't...

Re: A shadow of what we once were

Likewise. Well, sort of. By the time AB rolled around my previous forum home back in 2004, my enthusiasm for werewolves had mellowed. So I didn't make the hop over with everyone else at the time. I didn't feel it was my place even to visit the site back then because I knew far more talented and enth...

Re: I am not sure exactly why I joined here

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're seriously looking. And given that you're here, that you're probably new. If I had to guess I'd say in your mid teens to mid twenties. You've maybe seen a comic, or film, or TV show. In this day and age maybe even read an actual book. Failing that, perh...

Re: The First issue.. Quadruped, or Bipedal, Start yer engines.

you cannot be human or Werewolf or plain wolf you are werewolf in all three forms no matter how you look. Personaly i have no issues with three form werewolf, but i prefer two form version. Your idea is too complex in my opinion. I think Lee annnn was referring to more of a sliding scale than neces...

Re: I am not sure exactly why I joined here

Hello, Lars. Welcome to the forum. find real people that are shifters of sorts. I fear you've overestimated the scope of this forum. I can't and won't speak for everyone's personal beliefs and whatnot, but as i understand it, this is just a werewolf fiction fan site. I am just curious and am looking...

Well, I've got bad news for you: This site is actually focused on discussing the werewolf in fiction.
Oh I don't know, that opening post could be an attempt at fiction. I'm not clever enough to discern its fictional merits, but I wouldn't rule it out! 8)

Re: Werewolf or human?

That said, officially recognized rights, human or otherwise, would be a start at least. While governments will still legitimize to themselves that using our strawberry patch as a litter tray is in the national interest, the other half of the equation is how citizens treat each other. If I were a we...

Re: Werewolf or human?

Well if werewolfs are still considered humans then they would have human rights so we can say no secret horror labs, but if they would not be it would mean you can kiss your rights goodbye. Your faith in government experimentation programs and their respect for the sanctity of basic human rights is...

Actually, I miss the (whatever-his-name-was) progenitor-lycan. The big white thing from the second movie. That's how they all should have looked, I think.
William was nice (even if the CGI stunt double uses L'Oreal  ).

Re: Indecision 2016

Yeah that's the implication I thought, I just did a little homework is all (I'm familiar with the idea, because I've found not only others but also myself guilty of the affliction now and then, but I didn't know the word/term or its origins). As for the werewolf thing, I was just having a little fun...

Re: Underworld blood wars

Agreed. My impression from the trailer, it seems they've trimmed some neck length/bulk and refined the neck/shoulder musculature (good, it's looking pretty decent in that area now :) . Actually it's kinda weird not seeing how they used to be, I almost miss the old design, almost :P ). I'll be waitin...

Re: Underworld blood wars

So, according to the IMDB, Selene is basically tasked with ending the lycan/vampire war.

Part of me wants to watch it just to see the silly war end. But then part of me doesn't want to because chances are we'll get more of the same eventually.

Place your bets.

They're at the UV ammo again too. The whole guns thing is getting stale though. I'd like to see a convenient 200 watt hand held laser in UV flavour. 8)

Re: Durability vs regeneration

Well, shapeshifting doesn't necessarily cause damage exactly, but how is a full-body transformation any different from regeneration? :? I see two ways to do shape shifting: 1) Grow (or generate, not necessarily re-generate) parts (the presumption I have is that if you can generate new parts, for ex...

Re: Durability vs regeneration

Well if you look at the etymology of the word "regenerate", it is re-generate, re (to do something again) and "generate" (to cause the genesis, or creation of something). Healing repairs the damage to something that has already been generated. So regeneration is not really a more advanced form of he...

Re: Durability vs regeneration

Well you two have done a fine job hitting points I would have raised. I will draw a distinction between healing and regeneration. Regeneration is the regrowing and complete restoration of a missing or severely damaged part beyond the realm of healing, while healing is the repair of a damaged part, w...

Re: Werewolf or human?

Agreed, good question. The sensible, level headed, humanitarian/human relations diplomat spin doctor in me says werewolves are humans that have had bad/weird things happen to them. Like having cancer, we don't adopt a new species just because cancer has invaded our body and suddenly start calling ou...

Re: About the "traditional" shifting scene

Hemlock Grove doesn't count, as juicy as the metaphor was, the eyeballs dropping out is pretty much taking the piss, a cheap special effects hack. Not to mention, the transformed werewolf eating all the stuff that fell off, obviously, transparently there only for the gross-out effect. Like the teet...

Ahh, the topic of transformations. Once more into the breech. Teeth: Agreed, teeth falling out is pretty gross, but it happens to all of us once in our lifetime. If we're going non-magical then by god it's deeply rooted in the biology (punned!). Hemlock Grove doesn't count, as juicy as the metaphor ...
